Active Directory 기초

본 개념은 MS Windows Server 공식 문서를 참고하여 정리되었습니다.

1. Directory가 무엇인가?

 

한국말로 직역하면, " (이름·주소 등의 관련 정보를 보통 알파벳순으로 나열한) 안내 책자"

MS 문서에서는, "A directory is a hierarchical structure that stores information about objects on the network."

 

결국 Directory는 네트워크 상의 Object의 정보를 담고 있는 안내 책자 입니다.

Directory 안에는 사용자 계정(권한, 그룹 등), 네트워크상의 컴퓨터, 프린터 장비 등의 Object 정보를 포함하고 있습니다.

 

2. Active의 의미는 무엇인가?

 

"Active" Directory라고 불리는 건 사실, 옛날 사용되던 Windows NT 4.0's directory service와 구별하기 위해서 "Active"를 사용했다고 합니다.

옛날에 순수한 Data Store 의미의 Directory에서 아래의 특징이 추가되면서 "Active" Directory가 되었습니다.

• Object를 계층적으로 구분 (hierarchical structure)
• LDAP(Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) 지원
• Schema에서 Obejcts와 Attributes의 커스텀화 가능

3. Active Directory의 Roles?

 

Active Directory는 Windows Server의 "Role"에서 추가하여 설치할 수 있습니다.

아래 보시면, Active Directory ... 총 5개의 Role을 확인할 수 있습니다.

• Active Directory Certifiacate Services
• Active Directory Domain Services
• Active Directory Federation Services
• Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services
• Active Directory Rights Management Services
